V Rising 1.1 (April 2025) introduced official clan castle limits on Stunlock servers: one castle per clan on Duo PvP servers, two castles per clan on Squad PvP servers [3]. This removes the defensive advantage of distributing resources across multiple bases — a significant structural change from the early access era.
How to choose your mode:
- New to PvP → Standard PvP. Your gear survives death; you lose inventory items but not your core progression.
- Competing seriously in 2-player teams → Duo PvP, with standardised rules and clan-size caps.
- Organised clan competition → Full Loot on a community private server with agreed-upon rules.
- Never start with Full Loot as your first PvP experience. The gap between a prepared attacker and an unprepared defender on that mode is punishing.
Raid Windows and Timer Configuration
On official Standard PvP servers, castle structures can only take damage during the raid window: 20:00–22:00 local server time, seven days a week [3]. Narrowing the window to 30–60 minutes creates tighter, more decisive raid sessions; extending it to 4 hours suits more casual PvP cultures.
The Raid Offence Playbook
The attacker’s structural advantage is initiative: you pick when in the window to strike and which castle to hit. The defender’s advantage is preparation time and terrain. A well-built defence survives a poorly equipped attack regardless of numbers — your gear and coordination, not your enthusiasm, determine the outcome.

Against stone walls, Major Explosive Boxes are dramatically more efficient than Minors — 3 boxes per wall instead of 5, at roughly similar Sulphur cost. - Layer walls 3 tiles deep — an inner secondary wall forces raiders to spend a second round of explosives before reaching interior rooms
- Stagger all entrances — each 90-degree turn in the approach path adds explosive placement time and disrupts Siege Golem mobility

The Defender Build is built around time, not kills. You do not need to defeat the raiders — you need to occupy them until the window closes at 22:00. The Blood Hunter operates in the open chaos of raid-window PvP, not inside any castle. Common PvP Traps
These mistakes eliminate clans that otherwise have the right gear and strategy:
Castle Heart in the first accessible room. The most common defence failure. Experienced raiders check the obvious interior room first. If your Castle Heart is reachable within one or two breached walls, your base is effectively undefended regardless of how many servants or wall sections you built.
Servant abandonment during raids. Servants outside properly locked Servant Rooms are abandoned when their coffin is destroyed mid-raid. An attack that destroys three unsecured coffins has removed three defenders from the equation without spending an additional explosive. Servant Locks are not optional on a PvP server.
Carrying a Soul Shard solo into open-world PvP. A solo player with a visible Soul Shard buff is a priority target for every Blood Hunter active during the raid window.
