This is where the count matters more than the calendar: it’s the number of Mega Evolutions on that specific Pokemon, not the number of days that have passed, that decides its tier. A Dragonite you’ve Mega Evolved once is still Base Level even if you caught it a year ago; a Dragonite you Mega Evolve seven times this week jumps straight to High.
Translate that to this week: a Mega you’ve only evolved once sits at Base, still carrying a 7-day rest timer that won’t clear before GO Fest even starts. A Mega you’ve pushed to High or Max during Mega Ascension will either be off cooldown by Saturday or need only a small top-up of Mega Energy to re-evolve — energy you’re not spending on Remote Raid Passes for Mega Mewtwo X and Y instead.
