Two independent breeding databases and a dedicated breeding-guide site all agree on the same restriction: the only pair that produces a Neptilius egg is two Neptilius.[2][3][5] Every cross-species combo you’ll find elsewhere, including a widely mirrored table listing pairings like Astegon or Jetragon crossed with Neptilius, doesn’t hold up against that three-source consensus — treat any list of “alternative” Neptilius parents as unreliable.

Neptilius is one of a handful of Legendary Pals that breeds true, and unlike most of its Legendary peers it also comes wild-caught with its two best passive skills already locked in. If you don’t have a Neptilius yet, your only option is the boss fight — skip straight to the capture section below, because breeding can’t produce a first one. Why Neptilius Only Breeds True
Palworld’s breeding system doesn’t check species against species — it averages a hidden “breed power” number assigned to each parent and maps the result onto a fixed table.[3] Two community-run trackers put Neptilius’s own breed power (listed as “CombiRank”) at 160, high enough that it sits in a slot most other Pal combinations simply can’t reach by averaging two lower numbers.[3][4] Pairing Neptilius with itself is the one combination guaranteed to land exactly on 160 — which is also why the egg it produces is a Huge Damp Egg, the same tier the game assigns to other Extra Large Water Pals, even though only this specific pairing actually hatches into Neptilius.[3]
This is a different mechanic from the game’s other Legendary Pals. How to Get Your First Neptilius

- Craft or buy Legendary Spheres; anything lower is a wasted throw against a Legendary-tier capture rate.[11]

- Field an Electric-type Pal or two; Neptilius is pure Water with no secondary typing, so Electric is your clean advantage.[1][11]

The Built-In Legend and Lunker Passives
Here’s the part most breeding-combo pages skip entirely: the wild Sealed Realm boss you’re fighting for isn’t a blank-slate capture. Its passive-skill loadout is fixed at Legend and Lunker before you even throw a sphere.[10] Legend adds roughly +20% Attack, +20% Defense, and 15–20% Movement Speed depending on which tracker you check; Lunker adds +20% Water damage, +20% Ice damage, and a further Defense boost.[10][11] Stack them together and a freshly caught Neptilius is already running a 40% Water/Ice damage boost with 40% total Defense — numbers that normally take several breeding generations to assemble on a Jetragon or Frostallion.
That changes what breeding a second Neptilius is actually for. You’re not breeding to unlock Legend the way you would with the other four Legendaries — you already have it on capture. You’re breeding to fill the two remaining passive slots (every Pal has four) with something on top of the two that come free, or to produce a second body without a repeat boss fight.
Breeding a Second (or Third) Neptilius
Once you own one Neptilius, breeding more works through the standard Breeding Farm loop, not anything Neptilius-specific.[2] You’ll need Technology Level 19 unlocked for the Breeding Farm itself and Technology Level 17 for the Cake recipe cooked at a Cooking Pot — 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Eggs, and 2 Honey per cake.[2] Place a male and female Neptilius in the pen with a cake in the feed box; pairing takes roughly 4 in-game minutes once conditions are met, and the resulting Huge Damp Egg needs to be carried to an Incubator to hatch — as with any Extra Large egg, budget real-world hours rather than minutes for the incubation itself.[2]

Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Don’t trust a cross-species Neptilius combo table. The three sources that specifically audited this restriction — not generic aggregator tables — all converge on Neptilius + Neptilius as the only pairing.[2][3][5] A table showing Neptilius produced from, say, Astegon or Bastigor pairings is describing a different mechanic (what Neptilius breeds into when paired with something else) or is simply wrong.
- Don’t call it a Feybreak Pal in a build video or you’ll get corrected in the comments. Feybreak’s own new-Pal roster runs about 24 entries deep and Neptilius isn’t one of them — it shipped with Tides of Terraria, a separate update, months earlier.[7][8]
- Don’t bring standard Pal Spheres to the Sealed Realm fight. This is a Legendary-tier capture rate on a Lv60 target; anything below a Legendary Sphere burns materials for a near-guaranteed miss.[11]
Is a Bred Neptilius Worth Running in Combat?
Its Attack stat suggests yes — at 145, Neptilius ties for the second-highest Attack stat in Palworld.[1] Its actual signature move tells a different story: Thalassonic Laser hits for 200 power at Level 60, well below what a stat that high normally backs.[1] Our combat Pal rankings class it as a Medium-priority pick for exactly one matchup — a Water-weak Fire boss — because the raw burst its stat sheet implies never actually shows up in its moveset.
That doesn’t make breeding a second one pointless, it just narrows what it’s actually for. The 40% Water/Ice damage and 40% Defense from Legend + Lunker matter far more in that one specific fight than Thalassonic Laser’s power number does, and the partner skill’s water-travel and high-jump utility makes a second Neptilius a genuinely fast way to cross Palworld’s ocean regions even outside combat.[1] If you’re breeding purely to chase DPS, put the resources into a Jetragon or Necromus pairing instead — Neptilius earns its slot on defense, damage resistance, and mobility, not raw damage output.

Can I breed Neptilius from two different Legendary Pals if I have high enough stats?
No — this isn’t a threshold problem you can brute-force with better parents. The breed-power table has one specific slot for Neptilius, and pairing it with itself is the only combination that lands there. Every other Legendary pairing you try will resolve to a different Pal, not a partial or downgraded Neptilius.
Is fighting the Sealed Realm boss worth it if I could just breed one instead?
You can’t skip the fight — breeding requires a Neptilius you don’t have yet. The real question is whether you’re ready for a Lv60 boss at all; if you’re under Lv55 with no Electric-type Pal, level up and gear up first rather than throwing away Legendary Spheres on a fight you’ll likely lose.

What’s the fastest way to get a second Neptilius if I don’t want to breed?
