Helldivers 2 Scope of Authority Warbond: Is It Worth It? Stationary Shroud, R-40 Sightliner and AMW-20 Apex Explained

This is a read of Arrowhead’s own notes and the published stat lines, not a play test. The verdict: buy the Scope of Authority warbond if you run long-range kits (the R-40, the Apex or both) against the bot front, wait if you’re short on Super Credits, and skip it if you fight mostly up close. On paper the AMW-20 Apex is the weapon that justifies it, at 1,550 damage per shot with Anti-Tank I (AP5) penetration and unlimited call-ins on a 480-second cooldown. The ghillie armor is the smaller story. Arrowhead says Stationary Shroud works “in the crouched or prone position,” and the community wiki’s description of the passive adds that you also have to be standing still.

What Stationary Shroud does, and what nobody has measured

Arrowhead’s announcement says the passive “reduces weapon sway and detection range by mimicking foliage concealment.” It gives no numbers. The community wiki lists three effects, two with numbers: 35% less weapon sway while aiming and 15% less noise when moving. The third, reduced detection range, applies only while you are stationary and crouched or prone and has no figure in the stats box, though the wiki’s explanation section puts it at 75% less noticeability. It cites no test, and the page is marked work in progress.

The mechanism matters more than the percentage. Because the concealment depends on standing still, the passive rewards setting up and waiting. It does little for a Helldiver who crawls across the map to reach an objective. The 15% movement-noise cut only softens that walk. I haven’t measured how often a patrol actually turns with the passive on, and I haven’t found anyone who has published that number either.

If the passive is all you want, the wiki says a third set, the SS-500 Pale Prosecutor, carries it: the armor piece sells in the Superstore for 250 Super Credits, with the helmet another 125.

ArmorClassRating / speed / staminaPassive
SS-33 Mimetic MarshalLight50 / 550 / 125Stationary Shroud

TG-8 Sharpshooter (Castellan’s Creed)Medium100 / 500 / 100True Grit: +30% support weapon reload speed

The medium sets have identical base numbers, so the choice is the passive. Pair the Apex with True Grit if reload time is your problem, and with Shroud if you shoot from the same prone spot for a whole fight. Our Castellan’s Creed warbond guide covers the TG-8 set.

The guns, on paper

ItemMedalsDamage / penetrationCadence and catch
R-40 Sightliner35350 / Heavy (AP4)Bolt-action, 40 rpm, 10-round magazine, 10x scope. Wiki lists its noise as Medium (about 48 m).
P-44 Mist65110 / LightOne-handed, 400 rpm, 25-round magazine, noise Small (about 33 m).
AMW-20 Apex501,550 / Anti-Tank I (AP5)50 rpm, 5-round magazine, 5.0 s reload, cannot be fired standing.
LAS-44 Nova110880 / Anti-Tank I (AP5)Infinite ammo, 1.6 s charge, then a lockout after overheating (see below).
G-11 Caltrops3550 at the center (Medium, AP3), falling off to 01.5 s stun, arms about one second after landing, short throw.

Figures are from the wiki’s weapon pages for patch 1.007.201, which it flags as possibly outdated. For what the penetration tiers mean against each enemy, see our armor piercing guide.

AMW-20 Apex. The wiki says it takes three shots to kill an Automaton Fabricator, one shot for anti-air, mortar and bunker turrets, and one shot to the weak spot of several medium and large enemies such as Hulks. The cost is the reload. You kneel in place for 5.0 seconds, or call in a second Helldiver for a team reload, which the wiki says greatly reduces the time. Arrowhead’s 7.2.0 notes add that the assisted-reload animations were reworked to work better when the shooter is prone. The wiki lists two known issues (the ship menu mislabels its penetration as AP4, and damage falloff over distance is higher than intended) and has no Illuminate data, so I won’t guess about that front.

LAS-44 Nova. Arrowhead’s line about “better cooldown performance” is vague. The wiki’s heat data is clearer: one shot adds 100 °C against a 100 °C overheat limit, and the rifle “cannot be fired again for three seconds.” That makes it a deliberate one-shot weapon with endless ammo, and at 110 Medals it is the most expensive item in the warbond.

R-40 and P-44. The R-40 is a precise, slow primary. The wiki’s noise rating suggests it is not a quiet one, which is worth knowing before you treat the armor and the rifle as one stealth package.

G-11 Caltrops. Arrowhead describes it as a throwable that slows and stuns. The wiki calls the damage low and recommends it as a proximity alarm or a choke-point tool, warns that close-range use can stun you, and says the mines can be shot to trigger them early.

What it costs and the unlock order

Arrowhead’s post states no price and says only that the warbond “requires base game, Super Credits and game progression.” The wiki lists 1,000 Super Credits, with three 100-credit rewards inside that come back as you spend Medals, which nets 700. Check the number on the warbond screen before you spend anything. Everything totals 603 Medals. Our Castellan’s Creed guide put that warbond at 1,500 credits and about 657 Medals.

PageContents (Medals)
1 (162)R-40 Sightliner 35, G-11 Caltrops 35, SS-33 armor and helmet 75, Mimetic Mesh cape and player card 10, 100 Super Credits 7
2 (194)AMW-20 Apex 50, SS-15 armor and helmet 100, Boundary Banner cape and player card 32, 100 Super Credits 12
3 (247)LAS-44 Nova 110, P-44 Mist 65, emote 20, Longshot title 20, 100 Super Credits 32

The Apex sits on page 2, well before the Nova on page 3, so the gun I’d spend Medals on first doesn’t need the priciest unlock.
