Pokémon GO Zorua Community Day (October 10, 2026): Sucker Punch Zoroark, Bonuses and What to Do in the 3 Hours

Zorua gets its Community Day on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. local time, and evolving one during that window — or within four hours after it ends — gives you a Zoroark that knows the Fast Attack Sucker Punch. The honest verdict: Sucker Punch is a real upgrade over Zoroark’s current best fast move, hitting noticeably harder for almost the same speed, but it doesn’t turn Zoroark into a league staple. Evolve one or two of your best-IV Zorua to get the move, then spend the rest of the three hours on Shiny checks and banking Candy XL — that’s where this event actually pays off.

This follows the usual Pokémon GO Community Day format — if you haven’t run one before, our Community Day guide covers the mechanics from scratch.

Event Bonuses and Times

Per the official Pokémon GO announcement, the core event runs 2–5 p.m. local time, with a few bonuses extending further into the evening.

BonusWindow
Zorua spawns more often; Shiny and Special Background chance2:00–5:00 p.m.
Evolve Zorua into Sucker Punch Zoroark2:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. (during event + 4 hrs after)
3× catch XP, 2× catch Candy2:00–5:00 p.m.
2× Candy XL chance for Trainers level 31+2:00–5:00 p.m.
Incense lasts 3 hours (excl. Daily Adventure Incense)2:00–5:00 p.m.
Lure Modules last 1 hour; very high Zorua attraction2:00–9:00 p.m.
1 extra Special Trade; trades cost 50% less Stardust2:00–9:00 p.m.

Themed Field Research is also live, with rewards including Stardust, Ultra Balls, and extra Zorua encounters. The table’s biggest takeaway: the evolution window outlasts the catch window by four hours, so you don’t have to evolve on the spot — you can keep catching through 5 p.m. and still evolve calmly until 9 p.m.

Is Sucker Punch Zoroark Actually Worth It in PvP?

Sucker Punch is a genuine damage upgrade, not a gimmick. Checking the move data directly against Zoroark’s current options: Shadow Claw deals 6 damage and 8 energy every 1-second turn (3.0 damage and 4.0 energy per half-second tick), while Sucker Punch deals 8 damage and 7 energy on the identical 1-second cooldown — 4.0 damage per tick for only slightly less energy. That’s a third more damage per second at the same speed, and it carries Dark-type STAB that matches Zoroark’s Foul Play charge move (Night Shade is Ghost-type, so that pairing doesn’t get the same boost).

What it doesn’t fix is Zoroark’s actual problem: bulk. Pokémon GO Hub’s PvP rankings currently place Zoroark at #797 of 1143 in Great League (Tier C) and #628 of 841 in Ultra League (Tier D) with its existing moveset — a thin, glass-cannon attack stat in a format where bulky walls dominate. A sharper fast move narrows the DPS gap against those walls; it doesn’t change which tier Zoroark sits in. Treat Sucker Punch Zoroark as a niche Dark-type tech pick you might slot in for a specific matchup, not a new league staple — our Dark-type weaknesses breakdown covers where that niche actually helps.

What About Raids?

Skip it for raids. Raid attacking rewards energy generation over raw hit-strength, since more energy means faster access to the charge move that actually does the real damage — and Snarl generates 13 energy per use against Sucker Punch’s 7, a wide margin there. Community DPS trackers consistently put Zoroark’s best raid moveset at Snarl plus Foul Play, around 12.9 DPS against a neutral target at level 40 — solidly mid-tier among Dark attackers and well short of the format’s top picks. Evolving for Sucker Punch doesn’t move that number; it’s a PvP-only upgrade.

Which Zorua Should You Actually Evolve?

Not all of them — Candy is the scarce resource here, and the smart play depends on what you’re actually after.

Your goalWhat to do
PvP tinkererEvolve your 1–2 best-IV Zorua for a Sucker Punch Zoroark to test in Great/Ultra League — don’t mass-evolve
Shiny hunter / completionistBank candy, keep catching through 5 p.m., evolve only after confirming you’ve checked every encounter for Shiny
New or casual playerEvolve one for the Community Day move as a collection piece; spend remaining time on free Candy XL and the Special Trade bonus

Whatever your goal, catch first and evolve last — you can’t un-spend candy, and the catch window (5 p.m.) closes well before the evolve window (9 p.m.). Check our shiny Community Day guide for how Shiny odds actually stack during these events if hunting is your priority.

Quick Checklist for the 3 Hours

In order, roughly: catch Zorua steadily through 5 p.m. and check every one for Shiny; pop Lure Modules at a PokéStop cluster if you’re staying put, since the attraction bonus runs until 9 p.m.; use your extra Special Trade before the day ends; bank Candy XL if you’re level 31+; finish Field Research for the bonus Zorua encounters; then evolve your best 1–2 IVs any time before 9 p.m. for the Sucker Punch Zoroark.
