Most 4-star supports earn their keep by buffing whoever’s on field. Beidou does something rarer: her Elemental Burst keeps triggering Electro damage for 15 full seconds after she’s already off the field and gone, as long as your active character keeps landing Normal or Charged Attacks. That’s not a minor convenience — it’s the reason a character who released alongside the original 2020 roster still has a seat in Aggravate teams next to five-stars three years her junior.
This guide covers the build that actually uses that mechanic — the artifact set, the weapon tier list, and the Energy Recharge math for running her with one Electro battery versus two — plus what changed for her in Version 6.7. Verified against Version 6.7 (Luna VIII, released July 1, 2026). Talent numbers and Energy Recharge thresholds may shift with future rebalances — recheck before committing resin to a full build.
Quick Start: Beidou in 5 Steps
- 1. Main stats: Sands — ATK% or Energy Recharge; Goblet — Electro DMG Bonus; Circlet — CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG (whichever is further from a 1:2 ratio).
- 2. Artifact set: 4-piece Emblem of Severed Fate unless you’re already running Noblesse Oblige on another support.
- 3. Weapon: Favonius Greatsword if you need particles; Serpent Spine or Akuoumaru if your ER is already covered.
- 4. Energy Recharge target: Build toward 180%+ if you have no dedicated battery, 140–160% with one (Fischl-tier), 110–145% with two.
- 5. Rotation: Hold Tidecaller for 2 charge stacks (Perfect Counter timing), release, then Burst immediately — don’t waste the parry window standing still.

Why a 4-Star Still Anchors Aggravate Teams
Beidou’s Elemental Skill, Tidecaller, is a shield-parry: tap it for a quick slash, or hold it to raise a shield that absorbs incoming hits and charges the release. At 0 charge stacks it hits for 206.72% ATK; at 1 stack, 478.72%; and at 2 stacks (a full Perfect Counter), 750.72% ATK in one release, generating 4 Energy Particles instead of 2[5]. That’s the flashy part, and most guides stop there.
The part that actually explains her longevity is Stormbreaker, her Elemental Burst. For 80 Energy on a 20-second cooldown, it creates a lightning field around her that lasts roughly 15 seconds. During that window, every Normal or Charged Attack landed by whichever character is currently on field — not Beidou — triggers a lightning discharge dealing Electro damage at a 163.2% multiplier, jumping between up to 2 targets at base (3 total hits), or 4 targets at Constellation 2 (5 total hits)[5][4]. The discharge has a 1-per-second internal cooldown, so in practice a full 15-second window nets roughly 9–10 procs rather than a theoretical 15, depending on how fast your on-field character’s attacks land. (If chain-lightning proc math is your thing, we ran the same kind of jump-condition breakdown for a very different game’s kit in our Hades 2 Zeus boons guide — the underlying question of “how many jumps actually land per cast” shows up any time a game builds a kit around chaining damage between targets.)
That’s the mechanism worth understanding before you build her: Beidou isn’t providing burst damage in the traditional “press button, watch numbers” sense. She’s converting your main DPS’s existing attack animations into free off-field Electro application for an entire rotation, without asking for field time. In an Aggravate team — where the whole point is keeping a Quicken Aura refreshed on the enemy while your Electro applicator never has to leave the back line — that’s close to the ideal kit shape, and it’s why teams built around Nahida, Fischl, or a Dendro applicator still slot her in over newer, flashier Electro units that need real on-field commitment to do the same job.
Best Artifacts
4-piece Emblem of Severed Fate is the default answer, and for a straightforward reason: it grants +20% Energy Recharge on the 2-piece, and on the 4-piece it adds Elemental Burst DMG equal to 25% of your total Energy Recharge, capped at a 75% bonus (reached at 300% ER)[12]. Since Stormbreaker’s lightning discharges scale off Burst DMG, every point of ER you needed anyway is doing double duty. Run Sands (ATK% or ER%), Goblet (Electro DMG%), Circlet (CRIT Rate/DMG), and prioritize ER substats until you clear your target threshold (see the Energy Recharge section below), then pivot spare rolls into CRIT.
| Set | Best For | Avoid If |
|---|---|---|
| 4pc Emblem of Severed Fate | Default pick for any Beidou build — ER and Burst DMG both matter to her | Never — this is close to universally correct |
| 2pc Emblem + 2pc ATK%/EM/Noblesse Oblige | When you’ve already met your ER threshold and want raw ATK, EM (Aggravate), or team-wide buff coverage | You’re still under your ER target — finish the 4pc first |
| 4pc Thundersoother | Enemies with a standing Electro aura (Electro-Charged/Hyperbloom comps) | Enemies keep losing their Electro application between hits — the 35% bonus won’t hold |
| 4pc Thundering Fury | On-field Aggravate variants only, where Beidou’s own Skill/Burst trigger the reaction directly | She’s purely off-field — the reduced Skill CD and reaction DMG bonus go mostly unused |
Best Weapons
Because most of Beidou’s damage comes from Stormbreaker rather than her Normal Attacks, weapons that boost Burst DMG% or straight ATK outperform ones built around auto-attack uptime.
| Weapon | Priority | Best For | Avoid If |
|---|---|---|---|
| Akuoumaru | Top-tier signature-adjacent | Burst DMG% scaling is close to a direct upgrade since most of her damage is Burst[3] | — |
| Serpent Spine | Top-tier, refinement-dependent | Stacking ATK%/CRIT DMG over a fight, especially paired with Bennett or in Aggravate teams that keep her rotation consistent[1] | You swap her in and out erratically — the stacks reset on leaving combat |
| Wolf’s Gravestone | Strong, buff-dependent | Teams already running ATK%/DMG% buffers who can trigger its passive | Solo-Electro comps with no one else to trigger the passive threshold |
| Skyward Pride | Strong, ER-hungry rosters | Teams where Beidou’s ER needs compete hard with other units for substat rolls | Your ER target is already low (2-battery setup) — the ER is wasted |
| Favonius Greatsword | F2P / new player pick | Anyone still short on Energy Recharge substats — the passive’s particle generation covers real ER% | You’ve already hit your ER breakpoint through artifacts — the passive is redundant |
| Prototype Archaic | F2P crafted alternative | Budget ATK% scaling with a periodic AoE proc, no refinement material grind | — |
Energy Recharge: One Battery vs. Two
This is the number that actually determines whether Beidou feels smooth to play or like you’re waiting on cooldown. Her Burst costs 80 Energy — expensive for a 4-star — and how much ER% you need to cast it every rotation depends almost entirely on whether your team is feeding her particles from one dedicated battery or two.

With a single strong battery — a C6 Fischl and her Oz summon is the community benchmark — KQM’s tested range lands at 140–185% ER, depending on whether your rotation uses a Perfect Counter (cheaper) or two Tidecaller taps (more expensive, since taps don’t generate the bonus particles a full charge does)[1]. Add a second battery — Fischl running with 2 active Oz summons, or any second reliable particle generator — and that range drops to 110–145% ER, freeing 30–40% worth of substat rolls to go straight into CRIT Rate/DMG instead. Running Beidou with zero dedicated battery (solo Electro, generating her own particles) pushes the requirement up to 185–250% ER, which is rarely worth the substat cost unless you’re intentionally building a mono-Electro comp[1].
One more lever: a single Favonius-series weapon anywhere on the team cuts the ER requirement by roughly 5–15% in a double-battery setup, and by 25–30% in a solo-Electro one, because its passive proc rate scales down the more energy the team is already generating elsewhere[1]. If you’re short on ER rolls, checking whether anyone else in the team can hold a Favonius weapon is often cheaper than re-rolling Beidou’s own Sands. This is the same idea as gearing to a hard stat breakpoint instead of stacking a stat indefinitely — the same logic drives our PoE2 attribute breakpoints guide, where the goal is also hitting the exact number a mechanic needs rather than over-investing past the point it matters.
If you are…
| Player Type | Priority |
|---|---|
| New / F2P player | Don’t chase a precise breakpoint. Build toward 180%+ with whatever ER substats you have, run Favonius Greatsword, and treat any Burst you get as a bonus — consistency comes later. |
| Casual / efficient | Pair Beidou with any single reliable battery (Fischl is the easiest to acquire) and target 150–160% ER. That’s the sweet spot where you stop missing Bursts without over-investing rolls. |
| Hardcore optimizer | Run a double-battery setup, calculate your exact rotation length (Perfect Counter vs. tap), and push ER down to the 110–130% floor so every remaining substat roll goes into CRIT. |
| Completionist | Test all three battery configurations (0/1/2) against your actual roster and log real Burst uptime per rotation — the theoretical ranges above are starting points, not guarantees, since particle RNG varies run to run. |
Best Aggravate Team Comps
Aggravate triggers when Electro lands on a target already carrying a Quicken Aura (from a prior Dendro+Electro application), and it applies a flat damage bonus scaled by a 1.15x multiplier and the attacking character’s Elemental Mastery — at 500 EM, that’s roughly a 3,200+ flat damage bonus per proc before CRIT is even factored in[10]. Beidou’s repeated off-field discharges are built for exactly this: every lightning jump during her 15-second Burst window is a fresh Aggravate proc if the target still carries Quicken.
| Team Template | Roles | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| F2P Aggravate Core | Beidou / Fischl / Dendro Traveler / Flex Healer | Fully craftable/free-to-play roster. Dendro Traveler keeps Quicken refreshed, Fischl batteries Beidou, flex slot covers healing or shielding[2] |
| Keqing Hypercarry Aggravate | Keqing / Beidou / Dendro Traveler / Healer | Keqing’s own Electro application plus Beidou’s off-field discharges keep Aggravate procs stacking through Keqing’s full combo without a swap[2] |
| Sucrose Electro-Charged Driver | Sucrose / Fischl / Beidou / Xingqiu | Not a pure Aggravate comp, but the same off-field Beidou logic applies — useful if your Dendro applicator isn’t built yet and you want Electro-Charged instead[2] |
Every one of these templates is really a role formula — a damage dealer, a battery, an applicator, and a flex slot, filled by whichever units you own. If that framework sounds familiar, it’s the same principle behind building a coordinated team in any role-based game; our Valorant team comps guide breaks down the equivalent role-formula logic for a completely different genre.
If X, Do Y
If your Dendro applicator can’t reliably refresh Quicken before it decays, don’t force Aggravate — fall back to an Electro-Charged or Hyperbloom-adjacent comp instead; Beidou’s discharges still deal raw Electro damage even without the reaction bonus, and KQM notes her hits don’t interfere with Hyperbloom’s own Dendro Core targeting, so she can run alongside a Hyperbloom driver without stepping on its damage[2].
Rotation and Burst Uptime

A Stormbreaker cast has an 80-Energy cost against a stated 20-second cooldown — but in nearly every real team, Energy Recharge is the actual bottleneck, not the cooldown timer. The practical rotation looks like this: open with Tidecaller held for a full 2-stack charge (ideally timed as a Perfect Counter against an incoming hit, which cuts the Energy cost of reaching that charge and adds 2 extra particles on release), immediately follow with Stormbreaker, then hand the field back to your Dendro applicator and main DPS for the full 15-second discharge window while Beidou sits off-field regenerating Energy from her passive and any battery support.
Based on community rotation testing rather than an official developer figure, expect roughly 9–10 lightning discharges landing per Burst at typical attack speeds — fewer if your on-field character’s attack animations are slow (greatsword/claymore users), more if they’re fast (dual blades, some catalysts)[11]. That’s the practical ceiling on how many Aggravate procs a single Beidou Burst can generate, and it’s worth timing against your own main DPS’s actual attack speed rather than assuming the theoretical 15.
What’s New in Version 6.7
Two changes from the July 1, 2026 Luna VIII update are worth knowing even if you’re not chasing the bleeding edge. First, her Lightning Storm passive was reworked: while holding Tidecaller, she now accumulates power stacks every 0.8 seconds even without taking a hit, and each stack cuts her Skill cooldown by 4 seconds and restores 8 Energy (capped at 2 stacks, triggering once per 15 seconds) — a real quality-of-life buff to how often she can re-charge Tidecaller and self-sustain Energy without relying purely on a Perfect Counter[7][8].
Second, Constellation 6 was reworked around a new Cryo+Electro reaction called Stellar-Conduct: if the active character is in a “Radiance: Stellar-Conduct” state while Stormbreaker is active, nearby enemies’ Cryo RES drops 15% and the active character gains 200 Elemental Mastery[7][8]. The catch — and the reason this isn’t reshaping the mainstream Aggravate build in this guide — is that triggering Stellar-Conduct at all requires a “Stellar Glimmer” character in the party (currently Sandrone, Odette, or the Cryo Traveler), so it’s a bonus for C6 Beidou owners who happen to run one of those units, not a reason to change your core Aggravate team[9].
Constellations: What’s Worth Pulling
Beidou’s constellations are unusually front-loaded for a 4-star — the first two are the ones that matter for most players, and the rest taper off fast. Cross-reference note: one directly-fetched source (KQM’s Team Compendium Library) listed C2 and C3’s effects swapped relative to three other independently-fetched sources (Icy Veins, and two separate search aggregations). We treated the single outlier as a page-extraction error and used the 3-source consensus below.
| Constellation | Effect | Priority |
|---|---|---|
| C1 — Sea Beast’s Scourge | Stormbreaker creates a shield absorbing up to 16% Max HP for 15s, 250% more effective vs. Electro DMG | High — free survivability on every Burst cast |
| C2 — Upon the Turbulent Sea, the Thunder Arises | Lightning discharge jumps to 2 additional targets (4 total, 5 hits) | High — doubles her multi-target value; the best damage constellation for the Energy cost |
| C3 — Summoner of Storm | Tidecaller talent level +3 (max 15) | Medium — standard talent-level constellation, only worth it after C1/C2 |
| C4 — Stunning Revenge | +20% Electro DMG on Normal Attacks for 10s after being hit | Low — conditional on taking damage, inconsistent |
| C5 — Crimson Tidewalker | Stormbreaker talent level +3 (max 15) | Medium — same logic as C3, mostly a stat-stick constellation |
| C6 — Bane of Evil | -15% Electro RES nearby while Stormbreaker active; reworked in 6.7 to add a Stellar-Conduct bonus with the right teammate | Situational — strong RES shred baseline, extra value only with a Stellar Glimmer unit |
FAQ
Is Beidou still worth building in 2026 with so many newer Electro DPS units available?
For a dedicated on-field Electro carry, no — units built specifically for that role will out-damage her. But that’s the wrong comparison. Beidou’s actual competition is other off-field Electro appliers, and there she wins on cost: she’s a 4-star with a widely available F2P-viable build, and her 15-second no-swap Burst window does the specific job an Aggravate team needs — repeated Electro application without eating your main DPS’s field time — as well as most 5-star alternatives.
Should I prioritize Beidou’s Burst or Skill talent first?
Burst, without much debate. Her Skill’s Perfect Counter damage is real but situational and capped at a handful of hits per rotation; Stormbreaker is her primary damage source and the one talent level that scales the value of every discharge across the full 15-second window.
Does Beidou need Elemental Mastery for Aggravate teams?
Some, but don’t overbuild it at the cost of her ER. Aggravate’s damage bonus scales with EM, and 400–600 EM is a commonly cited efficient range for balanced Aggravate performance[10] — but Beidou can’t proc that bonus at all if she’s not casting Burst on time, so ER stays the harder requirement to hit first.
Can Beidou trigger Aggravate by herself without a Dendro applicator?
No. Aggravate requires an existing Quicken Aura, which only forms when Dendro and Electro have already met on the target. Beidou’s discharges are what refreshes and procs Aggravate after that Aura exists — she doesn’t create the Aura on her own.
