The Tarkov quests to rush first are the ones that pay the most reputation and XP per raid, because since patch 1.1.0.0 on 3 August 2026 a trader’s Level 2 runs on your PMC level plus reputation, not on a fixed quest chain or on roubles spent. The Flea Market isn’t part of that race at all. It opens at PMC level 15, and no task unlocks it.
That overturns most quest-order advice still ranking. GGRecon’s widely linked order dates from July 2022 and includes Checking, a task I could not find in tarkov.dev’s current task table. Timesaver’s Season 1 loyalty table still prints a roubles-spent column that the official notes say was deleted. This guide rebuilds the early route from the official 1.1.0.0 patch notes, tarkov.dev’s task data and TarkovForge’s trader tables. I haven’t played the reworked progression myself, so read the arithmetic as a plan to check against your own trader screen, not as tested results. It is the quest-priority layer on top of our first 10 raids beginner guide, and if you are starting a fresh Kord Breach character, our wipe-day checklist covers what resets.
Quick Start: Your First Five Raids
- Accept the four Ground Zero starters before raid one: Prapor’s Shooting Cans, Therapist’s First in Line, Skier’s Burning Rubber and Mechanic’s Saving the Mole. Each pays +0.10 reputation and 3,000 XP per tarkov.dev, and all four are set on Ground Zero.
- Pick up three medicine items in raid for First in Line. Dozens of items qualify, including a Salewa, and you hand them in after you extract.
- Take Mechanic’s Introduction when you are on Woods anyway. It unlocks Jaeger and pays 4,500 XP and 34,500 roubles, but it adds nothing to Prapor or Therapist reputation.
- Run one Customs raid for Prapor’s stack: Debut, Shootout Picnic, Background Check and Bad Rep Evidence.
- Finish at Factory: Delivery From the Past (the stash step), Sanitary Standards and Postman Pat – Part 1. These are the three +0.25 tasks that pay 10,000 XP each.
- Read the Level 2 line on each trader screen. It lists a PMC level and a reputation figure and nothing else.
- Ignore the Flea until level 15. It is a level gate, not a task reward.
Verified on 5 October 2026 against the official notes for patches 1.1.0.0 and 1.1.5.0 (1.1.5.1 followed on 15 September) and tarkov.dev’s live task data. Rewards and requirements can change with any patch, so confirm the numbers in your own game.
What Patch 1.1.0.0 Changed About Trader Levels
Trader levels stopped being a spending target and became a reputation target. The notes say most side tasks are now “tied to a specific Trader Loyalty Level” and arrive “in small groups of 2-4 tasks for each trader,” with the stated goal of making progression “less linear and less dependent on specific tasks.” They also “removed the required trader sales volume from Loyalty Level requirements” and rebalanced both the level and reputation thresholds for Prapor, Therapist, Fence, Skier, Peacekeeper, Mechanic, Ragman and Jaeger. The balancing changes apply to PvP Season, PvP Zone and PvE Zone alike.
The practical result is that Level 2 now needs only two things from you, and both are earned in the same raids. TarkovForge lists the new thresholds like this:
| Trader | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prapor | PMC level 6, 0.7 rep | Level 21, 2.7 rep | Level 36, 7.9 rep |
| Therapist | PMC level 5, 0.6 rep | Level 18, 2.1 rep | Level 37, 5.8 rep |
| Skier | PMC level 7, 0.6 rep | Level 22, 2.1 rep | Level 38, 5.8 rep |
Prapor asks for the most reputation (0.7), Skier for the highest level (7), Therapist for the least of both, and no money appears in any column.
Where sources disagree. Timesaver’s loyalty guide, published 5 August and updated 17 August, prints Prapor Level 2 as “Lvl 15 / 0.20 rep / 750k roubles.” That is the pre-1.1.0 rule set and it carries the spend the official notes say is gone, so I did not use it. I trusted TarkovForge because it matches the notes and because tarkov.dev’s own task gates agree on the levels: tasks that need Prapor LL2 (Ice Cream Cones, Grenadier, Glory to CPSU) start at PMC level 6, and tasks that need Therapist LL2 (Aid Stations, Population Census, All Is Revealed) start at level 5. The reputation figures rest on TarkovForge alone, which says its numbers come from the tarkov.dev API, so treat 0.7 and 0.6 as likely rather than certain.
The Reputation Math: Which Tasks Actually Pay
Early tasks come in two pay grades, and the second is much better. A standard task pays +0.10 reputation, 3,000 XP and 92,000 roubles. A heavier one pays +0.25 reputation, 10,000 XP and 189,750 roubles, which is 2.5 times the reputation and 3.3 times the XP. All figures below come from tarkov.dev’s task pages.
| Task | Giver | Where | Rep | XP | Roubles |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shooting Cans | Prapor | Ground Zero | +0.10 | 3,000 | 92,000 |
| Debut | Prapor | Woods, Ground Zero, Interchange or Customs | +0.10 | 3,000 | 92,000 |
| Shootout Picnic | Prapor | Same four maps | +0.10 | 3,000 | 92,000 |
| Background Check | Prapor | Customs | +0.10 | 3,000 | 92,000 |
| Bad Rep Evidence | Prapor | Customs | +0.10 | 3,000 | 92,000 |
| Delivery From the Past | Prapor | Customs, then Factory | +0.25 | 10,000 | 189,750 |
| Postman Pat – Part 1 | Prapor | Factory | +0.25 | 10,000 | 189,750 |
| First in Line | Therapist | Ground Zero | +0.10 | 3,000 | 92,000 |
| Shortage | Therapist | Any map (3 Salewa found in raid) | +0.10 | 3,000 | 92,000 |
| Sanitary Standards | Therapist | Factory | +0.25 | 10,000 | 189,750 |
| Saving the Mole | Mechanic | Ground Zero | +0.10 | 3,000 | 92,000 |
| Burning Rubber | Skier | Ground Zero | +0.10 | 3,000 | 518 euros |
| Introduction | Mechanic | Woods | Unlocks Jaeger | 4,500 | 34,500 |
Do the sum for Prapor and the shape of the plan appears. Level 2 needs 0.7 reputation. Delivery From the Past and Postman Pat give 0.50 between them, so two standard tasks finish it at exactly 0.70, and all six Prapor tasks I could confirm in the early block add up to 0.75. The +0.25 tasks are the ones to rush, because they carry the reputation and nearly all of the XP. That also covers the PMC level, since levels come from the same XP.

Therapist is the weaker case. First in Line, Shortage and Sanitary Standards total 0.45 against the 0.6 required. tarkov.dev also lists Operation Aquarius at +0.10, and older guides attribute it to Therapist, but I couldn’t confirm its current giver or level, so I have not counted it. At least one more Therapist task is needed, and your in-game list will show which. tarkov.dev shows no prerequisite tasks for any of these, but because tasks now release in groups of two to four, your trader screen may show only some of them at a time.
If Level 2 Is Locked: A Decision Tree
- Short on level only? Run the 10,000 XP tasks first (Delivery From the Past, Postman Pat, Sanitary Standards). One of them is worth more than three standard tasks in XP.
- Short on reputation only? Take the +0.25 tasks, then fill the gap with +0.10 tasks that share a map.
- Short on both? Follow the three-stop route below.
- Level 2 reached? The Level 2 gated tasks pay at the heavier grade: Ice Cream Cones, Grenadier and Glory to CPSU for Prapor at level 6, Aid Stations, Population Census and All Is Revealed for Therapist at level 5. Each lists +0.25 and 10,000 XP, and Prapor’s Level 3 asks for 2.7 reputation.
Which Route Fits Which Player
| Player type | Do first | Delay | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| New player, first week | Ground Zero starters, then Shortage | Delivery From the Past | It needs a key for the Tarcone director’s office and two maps, which is a lot of risk for a first-week kit. |
| Casual, few raids a week | One Customs raid for four Prapor tasks | Chasing Therapist Level 2 | Its verified path is incomplete, so Prapor gives a plan you can finish. |
| Optimiser | All three +0.25 Factory tasks in one sitting | Skier and Mechanic starters, unless they are on your route | Lightkeeper’s To the Light chain now needs Loyalty Level 3 with every trader except Fence and Ref, so reputation compounds. |
| Returning veteran | Check which offers you still have | Any pre-1.1 quest order | Some offers moved to different task rewards, and the notes say you lose them until you complete the new task. |
The Three-Stop Route, Map by Map
One map at a time gets most tasks done in the fewest raids, because many of them share maps and objectives. Debut and Shootout Picnic accept the same four maps, so a Customs raid can serve both. Debut wants five kills, and since 1.1.0 only regular Scavs, Sniper Scavs and Player Scavs count. Shootout Picnic takes 15 kills of any target. Kill objectives that match several active tasks normally count toward each, but check the counters after your first kill.

Ground Zero comes first because all four starters are there. On Customs, Background Check wants a bronze pocket watch, and Bad Rep Evidence wants Secure Folder 0031 from a bunkhouse plus a survive-and-extract. The first half of Delivery From the Past, the folder from the Tarcone director’s office, also happens here. Factory finishes the job: you stash that package in the second-floor break room near Gate 3, hand over two found-in-raid gas analyzers for Sanitary Standards and stash one in the med lab, and collect the letter for Postman Pat.
The totals are my own arithmetic from tarkov.dev’s rewards: about 54,000 XP across the three stops, and Prapor reputation of 0.10, then 0.50, then 1.00. The 0.70 threshold is crossed at the Delivery stash. None of this removes the risk of losing a raid’s kit. What Quests Don’t Unlock: The Flea and Better Gear
The Flea Market is a level gate. Insider Gaming reported at the 1.0 launch that the base Flea opens at PMC level 15 and then locks whole categories higher: bolt-action rifles and foregrips at 20, assault rifles and backpacks at 25, barter items and keycards at 30, and some top-tier ammunition at 35 to 40. Timesaver and LFCarry both still say level 15 in their August and September 2026 guides, and the 1.1.0.0 notes change only the fee, from 3% to 5%. I did not re-check the category levels after 1.1.0, but no source I read mentions a task.
Better gear is mostly a loyalty-level question now. The notes say many offers “previously locked behind task completion are now available immediately upon reaching the required Trader Loyalty Level,” and several popular ammo types and magazines moved down one level. Some unlocks still come from tasks. tarkov.dev lists Health Care Privacy – Part 1 as granting Car first-aid kit and Vitamins offers at Loyalty Level 1, and the notes say task chains with especially rare offers or recipes show their reward when you accept the first task. Read that preview before committing to a chain.
Does rushing beat looting for profit in week one? I can’t say, because I haven’t measured roubles per hour from loot. What the data does show: the three-stop route pays about 1.2 million roubles in task rewards (my sum of tarkov.dev’s figures), while traders now pay about 20% less for your loot and charge about 25% more, per the notes. That shifts the balance toward task income, but it’s an inference, not a measured result. If your raids stutter on Customs, our best Tarkov PC settings guide covers the frame-rate side, and our look at why extraction shooters own multiplayer explains the risk model behind all of this.
FAQ
Do quests unlock the Flea Market in Tarkov?
No. The Flea opens at PMC level 15, and from there categories unlock at higher levels. No source I found lists a quest requirement, so quest XP only matters because it raises your level.
Should I level Prapor or Therapist first?
Prapor, if you want a plan you can finish. Therapist’s Level 2 comes earlier (level 5 against 6), but the Therapist tasks I could verify reach only 0.45 of the 0.6 reputation needed, while Prapor’s reach 0.75 against 0.7. The trade-off is that Prapor’s tasks are spread across Customs and Factory.
Can I still use an older Tarkov quest-order guide?
Only for map knowledge. Rewards and unlock logic changed, and some tasks changed shape: tarkov.dev’s Debut now lists only the five Scav kills, where older orders such as GGRecon’s treated it as a task that needed shotguns bought from Jaeger. Use an old order for where things are, not what to do next.
Is Introduction worth doing early?
Only when Woods is already on your route. It pays 4,500 XP and 34,500 roubles and unlocks Jaeger, but it adds no Prapor or Therapist reputation. Jaeger does matter later, because the Lightkeeper chain requires Loyalty Level 3 with all traders except Fence and Ref.
