Beast of Reincarnation’s equipment splits into two economies that don’t behave the same way. Emma’s gear — weapon, armor, Spirit Stones — is chosen: you see the exact stats before you equip anything, and nothing about it is left to chance. Koo’s charm is rolled: charms drop as unidentified Decayed Charms from Rusted Golems, and identifying one at a Camp assigns its type, tier, and secondary effect at random [6]. That split matters because it tells you where to spend planning effort. Emma’s slots reward deliberate matching; Koo’s charm rewards picking the best of whatever you’ve already found.

Is Purity actually better than the elemental swords, since it’s ranked S-tier too?
“Better” depends on what’s killing you. Every elemental sword can outdamage Purity once its status effect is stacked and matched across your ammo and Koo’s kit — tier lists rank them together because raw damage potential is similar, not because they solve the same problem. Purity wins specifically when Emma is dying faster than the boss is, not when the boss is surviving too long [1][2][3].
Should I identify every Decayed Charm I find, or just the first one?
Identify all of them. Since charms can’t be sold, scrapped, or dropped yet, every Decayed Charm sitting in your inventory is dead weight until it’s identified — and because secondary effects vary even within the same type and tier, the only way to find a strong roll is to keep identifying [6].
Do I need six Spirit Stone Slots, or is Defense more important early on?
Early on, take the Defense — you likely don’t have enough Spirit Stones found yet to fill six slots anyway. The slot-count priority applies once you’ve collected more stones than you have room for, which usually isn’t the case in the opening hours [4][8].
Can I mix elements — say, a Fire sword with Lightning arrows?
